#overlooked #botany

nemfrog:

Yesterday as I went through the Nemfrog archive to see just how much damage the Tumblr censor is doing I noticed a lot of early posts, particularly botanical ones, that didn’t get much attention the first time around. Since many of them are lovely I thought I would post them again to see if the humans of Tumblr admire them too. I’m using two tags, #overlooked and #botany.

Posts end up getting ignored for reasons other than their being unappealing to an audience on the face of it. Like any blogger, I didn’t have followers at the beginning. That’s one reason. And I’m aware that 7pm Pacific in the U.S. is a much better time to post than 10:30, yet I often post images then and other times that are slow. A post that people might actually want to see will get overlooked if very few people reblog it from its original posting. That’s basic Tumblr. Of course, there are some images I post that few people will ever like no matter how many times I flog them. That’s basic Tumblr too.

My fifth anniversary retrospective and concurrent Celebration of Tags is winding down. I’m planning to go away for a few days starting 12/23, although I’ll queue up some new finds to keep the Nemfrog stream going.

Thanks for taking the backward look with me these last couple of weeks!  And I’m very grateful to everyone who’s been sending gifts during this brief fundraising campaign. If you’d like to chip in now, the lines are open.
